I wont translate that for fear of upsetting Woodguy!!!! ;D ;D

Guy I am not sure if I understand you correctly  [big grin] Polish language is bit complex and grammatically sophisticated plus you have flexible endings of words and something called declination... I am not saying it's bad that someone writes to me in Polish  [smile] [wink]
Anyway It's a pleasure to join squad
I should go now to my workshop and do some stuff today... I have massive external oak double door to finish... On the other hand weather is sooo nice - shame I can't be in two places in the same time...

Arek

My Polish is a little rusty, and your English is very very good! I need to practice more but a lot of the Polish guys down here have gone home now that work is scarce, so dont get much chance to practice now.

I will swop your doors for the metres and metres of glazing bars I am cutting in by hand!!

Koszmar!!! [crying] [crying]

Oh, dont forget to post pictures of the doors!! [big grin] [big grin]

Well thank you very much for compliments. Looking at your website I feel like I am just in nursery still...
Here in Argyll there are still some Poles left but not so many. With my wife, we decided we want to live here and this is our home so no matter what , any recessions we stay here.
I love Koszmar!!! hahahaha

Hi Arek,

I had an amusing experience at Lowes ( building materials store) last year.  As I came through the checkout, the cashier (I could tell by her accent that she was from eastern Europe, but couldn't tell which country)  suddenly stopped running my items through the scanner and started staring at my last name (which is on my company uniform).

She quite "vigorously" said  "Your last name!....That's not right!!"

I said "What do you mean?"  to which she responded  "You don't spell it correctly!"

After some back-and-forth, I asked her what in the world she was talking about, and she wrote out my last name the way it should be spelled in  Polish

I told her with a deadpan delivery that I am quite certain my last name is spelled correctly (which was lost on her) , and it was slightly modified from the way it was spelled when my great-great-great grandparents came over from Pilsen.  That made her quite upset, and she insisted again that my name was not correctly spelled and that I should start spelling it the way she showed to me.  She continued to scan my items at the register, muttering all along that I am from a Polish background, not Czech.  I told her that no one spoke Polish or Czech, and according to the family history and records, all of them spoke German.  This was the wrong thing to say, and she actually got mad at me.

In the few times since that I have come through her register, she just gives me the evil eye now, but doesn't say anything.

In retrospect, it is a bit amusing, but at the time I just thought she was a nutter.

That's a good story!!
To be honest with you quite often I have problems either on the phone or in some official institutions as barely anyone can say properly my first and also last name. So I can see the point your ancestors slightly modified your last name getting fed up with wrong either pronunciation or spelling.
And by the way Poland is central Europe not eastern  [wink] (we got some kind of obsession hahaha)

Hi Arek,

There are a few UK active members on here, we are all reasonably friendly and dont bite. [big grin]

Yes I noticed :-)
I am already sharing some thoughts with Guy  [smile]
It's so cheering up seeing all you guys so keen on helping or just friendly chatting with each other.  [big grin]

Hi Arek

Welcome.  Good to See another Scot on here even if you are an adopted Scot.  Yea, the weather has been great for a change but i fear it is going to be our summer & we will be in for a harsher early winter.

I think everyone on here would love to see pictures of the doors & anything else you make.  Nobody criticises anyone here for not being good enough &  i am sure you are just being modest.

Guy, I'm going to try & translate that to see what you are saying about me or my fine country  [poke] [scratch chin]

Cheers, Woodguy

Hiya Woodguy,
Nice to see other Scot here as well. The door is currently being 'in progress' and also I am not sure where to publish my pics...
About the weather - Argyll is soo sunny and nice - I'm regretting sitting in the workshop and didling with this door instead working outside on other project I do. Unfortunately there is delay in concrete work so I can't start stage two. And you're right  I am bit shy and modest...
By the way I dun mind harsh winter as it reminds me winters in Poland - snowy and cold. Luv it  [big grin]

Ha woodguy is terrible for criticising peoples work watch out!  [tongue] [tongue] [tongue] [tongue]
Jokes!

Any way you can post your pictures on this thread or you can create another one specific to the work you are showing

Hi Arek,

I stand corrected-Central Europe!  Thanks.

And watch out for that Guy Ashley fellow-he'll talk your ear off!

(I had a pleasant phone call with Guy, and we were both quite wordy!)
