High pitch noise charger, TCL 3

Hi guys,

I have two TCL 3 chargers. One came with my T18 the other with my PDC. The first one is made in China, the second is made in Germany. When I put a battery in one of the two, it makes a very high pitched noise during the entire length of the charging time. Guess one. Does anybody else have this problem?

Mine also makes the noise. Not sure if its a German or Chinese model. Will check on Monday.

Funny that you should mention this as I usually only charge my batteries outside using the TCL3 battery charger and I hadn't noticed this high pitched noise before. When I need to charge batteries in the workshop then I have an older TRC 3 charger permanently plugged in.
But the other day In the workshop I needed two batteries charged up quickly for the TSC 55 so I had one battery on charge in the older TRC3 and one battery on charge in the TCL3 and noticed that one charger was emitting a high pitched noise, when I checked it was the TCL 3 charger which was making this noise, I'll check to see where it was made.

Had fan cooled chargers do the high pitched whine thing before.
Put it down to a dodgy fan bearing.

My TCL-6 charger makes a high-pitched whine when a battery is inserted, but it stops after about 10 seconds.

The frequency should change with a lithium ion charging cycle (which is more like cycles since the last bit is an infinite "trickle charge").

I just got a TCL 6 charger with the RTSC 400 Li sander set. The noise is there during charging as well as when there's no battery inserted. Is this defective?

Called Festool Support. They are asking to send it in.

Shipped today. Let's see how long it takes to get it back.

Wow, a bizarre amount of inconsistency here. My TLC3 makes no noise but my newer TLC6 makes the high pitched whine for the full duration of charging only (not while empty/unused)

Got the unit back. Festool sent me a brand new one. It still has the same issue, but much quieter. I guess that's by design?
