HK fences

Does anyone know if the fence Phil mentions in this video about the HK is the TS cover plate, PN 491750? It looks like it, but I just wanted to confirm. It isn't listed as a HK accessory anywhere, as far as I can tell.

I'd also love to hear how people have found the dust collection is on the HK 55 with it, if you've tried it. Since the HK is significantly more open than the TS, it seems like it could help a lot.

And, since we're on the topic, I'd also be interested in hearing experiences with the parallel guide fence. Useful?

Haven't seen that plate thing in the US.

The parallel fence insertion mechanism is incredibly sloppy so it's not so easy to actually make it legitimately parallel to anything unless you cut a spacer block on a better saw. If you just need to trim an edge off of something in the Home Depot parking lot to get it to fit into your hatchback, it's worth having around, but the price is pretty up there.

Looks like p/n 500464, which is the parallel guide fence for the HK and HKC saws.

I recall a comment posted by David Stanton about the TS55 cover plate, p/n 491750, being able to fit the HK saws after some minor modifications.

That's just the nature of parallel guides.  Don't get me wrong for construction they are plenty accurate, furniture making, not going to cut it there.  I have the parallel guide fence for my HKC and I'm happy with it.  I do think it is a little pricey for an item you aren't going to use everyday (but we are talking about a Festool accessory here).

The HKC's attachment system is exceptionally awful having only two points of contact with floppy, loose fasteners. Mafell's aren't nearly as bad.

sorry to bring up this old thread, but couldn't find the info on fog.

what is the modification mentioned here?
is it using part # 10012382 (part 61 in the figure) for the attachment at the rear?

Yes, it's #61, what comes with the cover plate is slightly too wide to fit the boss on the saw.
I substituted a washer, which works fine. I can post up a picture later if you like.
