Why don't festool make a 110v version of the hk85? It looks like I'm going to have to buy the Mafell kss80 for site use?

Previous answers to this question from Festool representatives have said it is unlikely there will ever be a US version due to power/electrical considerations.

presumably potential sales don't justify the cost to have a new motor and UL/CE  certification done on it.

Just as a reference, the OP is in the UK.  I offer that info because the reasoning for not offering it there may differ from here in NA.

You say it like that's a bad thing....

To be used on 110 volt site power it would need to be on the bigger 32 amp plugs.
Then it couldn't be used off a CT extractor.

Hi
Reason is the electronic and the winding on the motor will be different and so higher cost involved. Believe me we have and still do request this in 110v on a regular basis. Do not bank on it in the next 12 months or even 18 but hopefully it will come and also to the US market

It's true, however, Festool does offer 110v 2200W router, which is almost the same as HK85 power wise.

I'm glad they decided not to spend the money on it because it drove me to my favorite saw in the world and a much better track system that finally allowed me to ditch the table saw altogether.

Is it actually still 2200 Watts when its the 110 volt version? Most manufacturers do the 110 volt versions in a lower wattage and I've only ever seen it in 230 ~ volts.

The spec. sheet on US model says 2200 W.
