HKC 55 officially announced

Seeing as its not mains there should be no trouble importing it right? You guys do use the same batteries as us correct ?  [eek] hope that's not a dumb question!

Interesting to note the riving knife is incorporated in the blade guard. It's missing the parallel rise and fall system from mafell

The HKC does have the ability to plunge to a pre set depth also [big grin]

Wow that is one cool looking saw! I love the new rail as well. Really cool features on it compared to the existing rails. I'm now wondering if there is a new version of rails for the TS 55 and TS 75 on the cards??

The rail needs to be a diffrent design as the saw can be used off the rail but full benefit is achieved when attached - bit like an extension of your arm really [eek]. Really cool to use and the benefit is obvious - correct angles each and every time you use it and of course the dust collection bag can be attached or if power is available the same adaptor from the T.S.C can be used [wink]
No current plans i am aware of to change the F.S rails.

Can the HKC be used on standard rails? If yes, would the guide strip be cut differently than with the regular TS55?

I got the impression from the Mafell video that the KSS saw can use both types of rails. Do not know about different cutting of the guide strip.

According to the german Festool-site the FS rails are listed as an accessory for the HKC.

Yes it can be used on the F.S rails. the blade supplied with the HKC IS 1.8mm kerf so it is .4mm thinner. The guide rail strip is trimmed and used in exactly the same way as the T.S saw.
The 2.2mm blades can be used on the HKC but the riving knife is designed for the 1.8mm blade so the effectiveness is reduced - keep to the 1.8.

Am I mistaken in thinking the depth must be preset? This would make it akward for plunging on a standard rail.

Hi
The HKC can have the depth preset. So for example if i needed to cut to a depth of 25mm the HKC depth adjustment can be used and the saw placed on the F.S rail. Swith on and plunge and the saw will click into the pre set depth. There is a small button on the left of the top guard that can be pressed with your index finger to then raise the saw. The same depth can be used again and again until the work is completed - application example could be flooring replacement or access panel.
A Festool T.V video will be released shortly to show all the functions and applications of the HKC.
Hope this helps.
