HKC55 for new project

Been looking at battery saws with the other brands and was reading up on the HKC55. I have a nice Hilti corded circular saw but was looking for a battery operated saw that would be more flexible when I don't have access to power. Building a shed and a cover for a saw mill and was wondering if the HKC55 with a FKS250 rail would be the ticket. I saw that the kit comes with two 5.2 amp batteries. Are the batteries large enough to power the saw through 2x cuts or is it better for sheet goods. I have seen a 8 amp battery but have not read where someone is using it in the HKC55. I noticed the other brands are powering some of their circular saws with 12 amp batteries and the RPM are much higher. I'm not looking for speed but quality cuts. Anyone have experience with the saw options would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some 8/4 aromatic cedar that has a Janka hardness similar to maple & cherry. The top board was cut with an HKC 55 and a 12 tooth blade, the bottom board was cut with a TSC 55 and a 28 tooth blade. The difference in cut smoothness was really dictated by the saw blade I used. Neither saw had an issue with cutting the aromatic cedar, just make sure the blade is sharp.

Two 5.2 aH batteries and a charger will keep you cutting all day, I would think. I used my HKC55 to frame a bathroom remodel. Not as big as a new shed build, but I used one 4aH battery and never had to charge it. The recharge time, I think, is on the order of 30 minutes. (Fact check that one to be sure.) Even if it's 60 minutes, you can cut on one long enough to recharge the next.

I don't think you'll have an issue with quality. I've not. There have been applications where I've upped to a finish cut blade and loved the result. I've used an aluminum cutting blade as well. The only thing I'd say is to check the angle stop on the FKS track. I have seen it come out of square from time to time. Just re-tighten it and keep going. Not an issue as long as you check before you cut periodically.

Thank you for the input. I was worried that the saw maybe underpowered. Unfortunately no store near me carries that model saw where I could look at it. Building projects have started so I hope I can find one online and have it shipped to me.

Try Hartville Hardware. They carry the full Festool online. Shipping is free in CONUS on all Festool. Usually within 2-3 days. I've had great experiences with them for several years now.
