Hockey is finished for us

Well, It's been over 10 years and my youngest son has played his last Rep Game as a Waxer. He has played defence for every team he has played for.
The photo is him going in for the hit. You can see the concentration on his face.

Ice Hockey is a great sport.  I started playing when I was 6 or 7 years old.  I stopped playing as adult when I was playing a pick up game and a players stick got stuck in my skate resulting in a broken leg and 6 months out of work.  My wife wasn't to happy.  I miss the game.

Thanks Jim. No, not the next Bobby Orr. My son doesn't like to score. He is a defensive defenseman. Rarely anyone passes him.

It is a great game. The boys learn a lot about teamwork and respect. Also, they make many friends for life.
You should try and see if you can still get out and play.

My son played AAA, but quit after trying out for Jr. A and getting bounced by the guys in from the OHL.

I was a runner and a tennis player in my youth.  I started playing hockey at age 30.  I played 1-3 times per week for 15 years in men's rec leagues in Seattle.  I just moved to a new city and I've started playing at a local pick-up game every week.  I was asked to join a team.  I love the sport.  It's a lot more fun than running.  [big grin] I play with 20 year olds all the way up to 65 year olds.  I hope I'm still playing at 65.

I love hockey, my son loves it even more.  He is a first year pee wee so I have several years left.  It is almost impossible to get him off the ice.  He also plays D, but is more offensive minded.

I never started playing until I was 16, other than pond hockey. Only got to play one season of travel league and one year of high school. Then after high school I decided to skip out on trying for juniors, just not in the cards. Then I just kinda was to busy with getting married and remodeling an entire house by the time I was 21. Then I need to pay for all that so stayed away from the ice until I was around 37.
It's a very hard sport to walk away from, with like you mentioned the friendships you build while playing. There are a few I played with that I still see playing with or against, and some of my best friends I have are all from hockey.  This is almost the only thing I'll give up my free time in the shop for.
