Homemade Vacuum Clamp

Has anyone thought of making a homemade vacuum clamp using either the fastcap suction clamp or the Woods, held by a 360 degree clamp or vise? Just curious, how well this would actually work.

I have the Festool version of the suction clamps you depict, and it doesn't work on stock that is not perfectly smooth and non-porous - like, for instance, wood or plywood.

Which would like make it useless for the application you're thinking of, *if* the Fastcap and other product you depict are like the Festool ?
