Hornbach - Simply Amazing

Hi Everyone,

I have been in Germany for the last 10 days and have just been into a Hornbach store for the first time (and today went into another one in Luxembourg).

The first one was at the Hornbach HQ in Landau - an amazing store in a beautiful part of Germany. Herr Hornbach goes to work wearing the same kit as his workers and there is certainly a very happy atmosphere amongst the staff.

I then discovered this on their YouTube channel:


I wish we had something like this in the UK. It would certainly put B&Q etc in their place.

I've found European humor to be quite different in my travels.

But, going face down would create way too much drag.  [blink]

And... splinters.  [scared]

The tv ads from Hornbach are always extremely over the top (at least over here in the Low Countries), and I find them quite funny. Next year they are going to open in store in my town. I hope they’ll carry some good wood (fingers crossed).

As I watched the video I had no thoughts for the grazes or splinters in the arms and legs but kept thinking what might be happening "down below".

When we were building our current house I was frequently frustrated by the low stock levels and lack of certain products at the local builders' merchants. On my quick wander around Hornbach in Landau it was clear that they carried a wide range of stock and there was a good quantity of everything in the various bays.

Does anyone know if they are one of the outfits that will support the construction of houses by supplying materials in phases? What I have been told is that you choose your house design and they then supply the exact items you need on a call forward basis for each stage of construction.

It turns out that they are not a German dating agency but an innovative company. Rather than showcasing their products in the videos they set the imagination going and perhaps inspire people to build or make things. The videos are a visual metaphor.

Its a hardware store. Similar to HD or Lowe's.
