Hello guys,

I have to buy a knew hose for my shop vac and can't seem to find information about which one would be the best.

I suppose the bigger the diameter, the better, but how do you choose between a 36 and 50mm.

Is there any kind of document that would describe which hose fits which tool.

thanks a lot

vincent

the more of the 50mm you run the better . you will loose suction with the others.. run the 50mm most of the way and a whip  tale from that to the tool be it 36 or 27mm. as far as i know  ::) none of the festool tools run a 50mm hose directly maybe the planers

i presumed the kapex only took 27or36mm hoses as that is all that is talked about.

Kind a depends on what you are doing. I would not want anything large the n the 27mm for sanding or the Domino, for TS55 or OF1400 the 36mm is better. I thought the 50mm was just an extension hose and did not have a tool end.

It's not necessarily the case that "bigger is better" when it comes to hoses. Most of the festools work well with a 36mm hose, apart from the sanders and the domino which are better suited to a 27mm hose. There are also mobility issues to consider- a 50mm hose attached to a sander will be quite unwieldy.

Richard.

Hi,

The sanders and Domino only take the D27 (unless you make an adapter) and they do not need a larger hose.

The routers, planers, TS55 / 75, and Kapex will take either D27 or D36 (no adapter needed).

I do not think any of the tools take a D50 without an adapter, and they don't need a D50 either.  The D50 is really for extension or cleaning.

The router and planers and Kapex really benefit from the D36. The TS 55 / 75 benefit some but not a lot.

All of them will fit the Festool CT vacs on the vac end without adapters.

Not exactly.  The Hose Reducer can be used as a tool-end fitting to connect some tools with the D50 hose.  This Hose Reducer is not an antistatic fitting, and will not fit tools with oval-shaped ports.  I cannot imagine actually using a D50 hose with any tool other than the Kapex.  But, who knows, it may work well on a TS mounted in the CMS or some similar situation -- I'd be willing to test this out if Festool would like to send me the CMS...  Always trying to help.  [tongue]

Thank you Guys,

I knew I would get a clear answer on the FOG  [smile].

I already own a 27mm plug-it host and was using my starmix vac's hose (yep I known not a Festool, but don't have the budget right now) for the bigger machines (OF2200, EHL 65, TS55) but I recently broke it.
So the replacement will be a brand new 36mm Festool hose  [tongue]

i have a 27mm hose and got a 36mm hose today wow i wish i got one years ago, you wont be dissapointed

Does the 50 really fit on the kapex?  I have a 36 on the outside of the dust port on mine.  It's a little loose, if anything.

I don't think the 50 wouldn't fit.

That's cheating.  Using an adapter.  You can convert anything to anything using an adapter.  Plus, unless you have a very long run, or don't want to buy another hose, it really doesn't accomplish much of anything using a 50mm hose instead of a 36.

Cheating?   [blink]   Not at all.  That is Festool's fitting that can be used to connect another hose to the tool-end fitting of a D36 hose, or used as a tool-end fitting for the D50 hose.  I fail to understand your objection.  By offering this fitting, Festool has allowed you yet another choice in setting up your equipment.  Without this fitting, you would need to locate some aftermarket adaptor to take its place that may, or more likely may not fit properly.
