I wholeheartedly concur. 36mm hoses work particularly well with handheld planers, SCMS & Routers: those tools that produce an intermittent but occasionally higher volumes of swarf. Smaller hoses are seemingly more optimised for sanders & the like. The less restrictive airflow of the larger hose not only clears the bursts of dust effectively & quickly, but also prevents restrictions & blockages from the larger splinters & chips that these tools can generate.
In my experience 50mm is excellent at cleanup, but considering the price of 50mm accessories (alloy wand, floor tool/s etc.) it's a pretty extravagant expense for little additional tangible gain. The plastic alternatives, whilst cheaper, aren't really of the same "industrial" quality as the alloy versions. You'll find many of the same products available from the likes of Starmix, Stihl et. al. & aftermarket suppliers at much more reasonable prices in both 35/36mm & 50mm.
