I have been checking this FOG since 2007. Before that, there was FOG for me since, I think, 1999. I have not had a tremendous amount of woodworking, so I have contributed my skills knowledge in other ways. My main skill knowledge has been in the trowel trades. I was a mason contrator for 30+ years. Occasionally, a question shows up where I can contribute some of what i learned so long ago. Masonry is 30+ years in my rearview mirror, so I am no longer as familiar with that trade as I used to be.
However, I check the FOG nearly every day. Even tho I no longer work as much in my wood shop, I still learn almost every time I check in. I have seen a few complaints about repetitious questions from newbies. Hey, everybody has to start somewhere. Even tho it was over 60 years ago I had my first intro to the building trades, I still remember my very first day on the job. (Actually, that was in the plumbing trade when I was a highschool freshman)I had lots of questions and received lots of answers. Today, with the internet, one can become familiar with almost any tools long before they have questions. However, to ask a question and receive feedback from people who have actually used the tool in question, that is where The FOG shines.
