How big is the Kapex?

I am going to build a table for my CMS similar to:http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=60204

I might be getting a Kapex when they are available, so it seems prudent to build the MS table big enough to hold it.  How big would it have to be to hold the Kapex?  (side to side and front to back; the depth will be adjustable...)
Thanks.

It is 77 lbs in its box and its dimensions are:

29.5?L x 20?H x 23.25?W

I was told that several months ago by some folks at Festool. I asked because I need to clear out some space in the old warehouse for these bad boys!

Ron--

What makes you think you'll need storage space for the Kapex?

Just slap shipping labels on them as you take them off the pallet.

:)

Ned,

You're correct, sir! In fact, I've already taken the liberty of placing a label on one with your address information.  ;)

That's great news!  Now just tell your accounting department that it's paid for...

Well Ron. If you are that efficient throw a label on one for me too  ;D

I'll pick it up in Washington state

Since Dan will need assistance getting across the border, I'll be happy to help.   (I live in Washington State.)  However, there is a little known Washington State law, which states that a the MINIMUM pickup is two Kapex's must be ordered before one can go north to our Canadian friends.   Therefore, throw an extra Kapex in the box for me and I'll ensure that all Wash. State Kapex laws are met.    ;D

Have a nice day,

Dan.

But seriously, Ron.  Will the Kapex be UPS-shippable?

Will the MFT3 be UPS-shippable?

Typically when you spend over $150 (which I assume the KAPEX will exceed) you get free shipping. If you ship all of the KAPEX's sold in Washington State to one location we should get a discount. You may need to rent a train car.... but it would keep stock from piling up in the warehouse

I am not Ron, but the answer is yes for the Kapex, not  sure about the MFT3.

Bob is right so far as I can tell as well. It's well within UPS guidelines for shipping.

But nobody knows for sure about the MFT3?

The fact that the old MFT 1080 couldn't go UPS was a hassle for some of us, so the answer would be interesting.

I'm not sure about the new table.

And here's the other thing. EVEN if you can ship the new table via UPS, I'm not sure I'll want to ship the new table via UPS. It depends on how it's packaged and what the feedback is from people who receive it. UPS does a sterling job on most parcels but some things just don't fit their model very well.

It is not that the MFT could not go UPS; but rather, as Ron said, getting it to the end-user without damaging the rails/profiles was tough.  LTL carriers seem to have a better success rate getting it to client without damage.

I don't know where the 77 pounds in the box would come from, but the actual saw weighs 47.3 pounds for carrying. I know there is not 30 extra pounds of packaging, so I think this might be a typo.

I was given that weight by the folks at Festool corporate (specifically Alexander Lerner). I have no idea how they're packing this item but that's a real number according to them. I thought 30 lbs of packaging was odd as well but bear in mind that this is too big for any systainer. I'd love to see one (and I will in about 2 weeks).

;D
