How do you become a "Master" Cabinetmaker?

One very important qualification that is often overlooked to be considered a "master" at something is speed.  Lots of people can produce "master" quality work but can it be produced in a manner and speed to be profitable.  Its not just about the product.  From my readings on early apprenticeships one would have to accomplish a said task in a set time.  This is the separating factor among workers.  Quality AND Time.

I know someone from Austria who has the designation as a Master Craftsman and to get this designation he had to build a chair within a very tight time constraint (something like 5 hours) and without a DOMINO!!!! [eek]

I can certainly tell you I would not be able to build a chair within 5 hours unless it was a plywood, with screws and pre-cut!

I can't even build anything from IKEA in 5 hours.
