hi there.

lately iv come to have several sets of jig saw blades . i have been useing the card board thing they come in but they keep on falling out. the problems are
1 maybe they are knocking off each other  and loosing their edge
2 if you open the box in a hurry they all fall out
3 every time i have to put them back int the card board things.

has any one found or made some way to store them safely and keep them protected.

i was thinking of some kind of tube (mybe a tube off of those disolable energy drinks ) and some kind of blade protecter

Saw a cool solution here on the FOG a while back.  Somebody put magnetic strips on the underside of the lid which held the blades in place.

Surely there's a sys5 with a special insert for that!

I was blown away by the fact that the CARVEX accessory systainer didn't have anything useful for blade storage.

A wallet type of affair with several leaves, with little pockets would be the ideal storage ... C'mon Festool ... You could brand that nicely ...

I moved my jigsaw into a Sortainer 4 and used the three small drawers for blades. Now using the Tanos Sortainer 5 with two big drawers and three little ones as I am using two jigsaws. Works great!

A while ago I picked up one of these multi-blade sets.  http://www.lowes.com/pd_294749-70-DW3742C_0__?productId=1242613&Ntt=jigsaw+blade&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl__0__s%3FNtt%3Djigsaw%2Bblade&facetInfo=

Bosch has a similar set with a case, but I can't find it at the moment.

The blades are decent, but the case works very well.  It has 3 slots in front, and 3 more in back to organize the blades.  You might be able to look around and find the case by itself.

It might not be festool colored, but it does the trick.

il think about the tool roll idea. there is some merit to that idea, althow i think you would need to push them in the top and pull out the bottom.

the magnet strip would be ok for blades you are useing at the time or in the future, i am looking for a wayh to store the new blades more than the used ones. once you open that cardboard thing it falls apart very quick. after a few weeks knocking around you would be suprised at the loss of edge
i see a fellow i did a job for , he got a 5 pack of festool long blades , they are thrown around in the cardboard thing in his kitchen and you would notice the difference already.

i would like a little case.
i see this ryobi onelink
not sure about the blades but they would do for rough work. il pop into my dealers during the week and see what he can russel up

Why dont you buy the ryobi then?    you know if festool made one like ryobi it would cost £64  and you could buy 3 ryobi ones for that!

That's what I am going with. Just inherited a roll of refrigerator magnet. I was hoping to acquire an old magnetic advert (mag sign)

Mine are held in place in a plasma field in storage box (startainer) I got at a Star Trek convention.  [big grin] Also for some reason they get sharper and younger....when in the Startainer [blink].

Dane,

Good to know!

P.S...sorry to hear about you dilithium crystals.....

Dane,

That is the set I was referring to when I mentioned the Bosch set a while back.  Thanks for the link.

That set is nice for in the shop, the Dewalt case has a bit of a smaller profile which is nice to use on the go between jobs.  Plus you can put whatever brand of blades you want in any case you get.

that bosch case is pretty good have one someplace.... mine are just laying all over the bottom of the box... I like the mag strip on the lid great idea. and maybe festool can adapt that idea for future jig saw case with a better solution for blade storage.
