I'm going to be broke, but very happy...
Since owning ts55 and Midi, a couple of weeks ago... I now have the Kapex ug stand and extensions, Ets 125 eb plus!
Seriously when does it stop? Starting thinking about painting stuff green, is this normal? Do Festool offer free therapy, or is there any support groups out there.

...my name is James, and I can't stop buying festool equipment!

My name is Cliff and I am an Festool addict :) I think this forum could be re-named Festoolians anonymous except we only seem to encourage each other to buy more gear. I started by buying a T15 just because I like nice gadgets. I wasn't even interested in taking up woodworking. I decided to buy a saw so I could actually make something to justify the money I spent on the drill. You only need to see my signature to see how addicted I became (I also have over 1k invested in Lie Nielson and Lee Valley stuff). If you ever buy a LN or Veritas plane you will start another serious addiction!

My name is...on second thoughts I should remain anonymous.

I too am a Festool junkie but, after some recent good luck, I have just bought a pair of Veritas planes and there is a third on the way. Because of the effort to get my last video up I have only had one little go with my new #4 1/2 smoothing plane. I was so impressed. It took me less than 2 minutes to set it up for the first time and here in the study I have the first beautiful whisp of a shaving draped over a picture on my desk. I have not had a chance to take the low angle block plane out of its box. I have the low angle jack on order along with the Veritas PM-V11 chisel set. I suspect that being addicted to two separate things must be really bad - or really, really good !

Peter, I too have that plane, but wait to you get their low angle jack plane.

Fortunately Festool became my addiction!!  [embarassed]

I've actually found I've slowed down, but my time commitments haven't been kind to me.

Where did I put my work/life balance? [sad] (Festool is in the "life" part of the equation for me).

The first time I ever even heard of Festool was when I started working for this guy who has a ts55.  I was amazed.  I tried to find side work based specifically on projects that would give me an excuse to borrow it.

But Festool was always out of my price range.  A couple years later I found someone selling Makita's knockoff for $250 on Craigslist, and I found a website where I was able to get 2 55" guide rails for $90.  While this was not a Festool saw, it did come in a systainer.  For a while, my habit lay dormant.

But what they don't tell you is that those systainers don't take hold until you have 2 of them.  That first time those locking tabs click into place, and you pick up one handle and are carrying two toolboxes, that's when it hits you.

My second systainer was an old CDD with 2 completely shot batteries, but also with the right angle and eccentric chucks, on eBay for $125.  Then I found a C12 on CL with good batteries but no accessories for $220.

Now I had 3 systainers, a working Festool drill with all the fixins, a tracksaw, and 2 55" rails for a grand total of $685.

Click.  Click. Click. Click.  Hooked.

Then I found out about T-locs, and yeah... It's all gone downhill from there.  I got an ro90 with a CT MIDI, a used ETS 125 with a whole gang of sandpaper and a couple extra systainers, a cleaning kit, a bit set (from England because I like the ones they have there better than the ones coming out soon here), a systoolbox, a sortainer, and a Trion.  I also just ordered a few plug-it sockets that I'm gonna install in that makita tracksaw and whatever else tickles my fancy, and now I'm just looking for excuses to get more...

And then I saw Ron Paulk's Ultimate Work Bench.  Man I'd love to make me one of those!  But how the hell am I gonna drill all those holes in a way that's worthy of my ever expanding festool collection?

So my LR 32 is on it's way and I'm hoping someone will sell me a nice used OF 1400 soon... Or maybe a Festool employee will see how beautifully I write and send me one to review.  [big grin]

A guy can dream.

This has been terribly therapeutic.

It get's slippery because once you've used a quality tool and accepted the price you have to pay for said quality tool, the barrier to entry is broken.

For me it's been a gateway to not buying cheap made in China stuff any longer.  I've now learned to accept the price for items that aren't disposable.

Perhaps this is why it is slippery for many of us.
