I think in general most phones work but iphone users tend to tell people that there phone just works as if its a big surprise
It is not the phone that "just works"... just like Festool, it is all about the ecosystem. If you only have an iPhone, or Android or Windows phone or {insert other here}, then it really doesn't matter what you have in your hand to make a call, browse the web or load up your apps...it is what feels good to you at that point. But if you have Macs, MacBooks, iMacs, iPads, Apple TV, Newtons [wink] and other Apple devices, then the system is what makes it "just work".
... but i like to be able to use the keyboard of my choice...
...and see things like what apps are using my battery power.
...I like to have a screen size that suits my poor vision when looking at plans...

I like to be able to block calls from certain numbers to avoid being disturbed by salesmen all day...
and I like to have my phone set up the way I want not the way apple want me to have it.
I think it really all boils down to this argument right here. Some people are adverse to direction and will naturally want the opposite of others and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, I am very much that way. The term "draconian" has been used to describe Apple throughout history, and you know what, I have never found it to be a degrading term In fact, it is what makes the Apple ecosystem and products "just work". I agree, that a bit more flexibility within iOS would be nice at times, but not if it makes my phone less stable or prone to confusion. I live by my iPhone. I am on it ALL day. I need a solid phone, but I also need to communicate with my customers and the rest of the world and I don't want to fidget with that aspect of my life.
Thats my choice and I respect yours, price does not come into it, I just think its laughable how many people jump on the band wagon and never use any of the features that even the most basic smart phone has let alone a high end iPhone.
Please don't take the above areas as a battle or putting you down for anything, I just wanted to voice MY opinion. It comes with years of experience in the tech world, both as a consumer and producer. I run a small company that has been entrenched in tech from day zero. I have worked for and with Apple for years. I also work with many fortune 500, global 100 customers and we see Apple and non-Apple devices everywhere we look. Competition has ALWAYS driven evolution... and it always should. It is what makes the world we live in a (mostly) better place.
