How many of you use your Domino to build chairs?

I want to know if the Domino can be used to make chairs?  Like dining chairs and rockers.

Although I haven't made a chair using the Domino (just haven't had the opportunity), I would say the Domino is ideal for this purpose.

Do you have any particular designs in mind ... some may be more suitable than others.

Don't know about rockers - never built one, but they have a lot of stress and racking...

Regular chairs -sure.

I built six of these a couple of years ago and no problems.  All the joinery is domino except for where the rear legs connect to the seat.  I now have a chair "in progress" that is all domino and it seems very sturdy.

If you are building a set, it would probably be worth your while to make a jig with a ramp that presents the chair part to the domino at 90 degrees.

IIRC, one of our Australian members posted a nice series of pics shortly after FOG founder Matthew Schenker brought this forum here from the Yahoo Group where he started it.  (I'm pretty sure it wasn't back when this forum was a Yahoo group--it was right around when the Domi was released in the US, maybe a couple months before then.)  If I could only remember the guy's name who posted those pics--he posted a lot of other good stuff about the Domi--it would be worth it for folks who want to use the Domi to make chairs or other furniture to go back and read his old posts.

Anyone remember who I'm thinking of?

Here is a set of stools currently in use in a commercial environment.  No problems, so far.

Buttons are also fun to make and install with the domino.

Nice job everyone.  How do you all do the angles on the legs to the rails?  I can see how I would do the straight mortises, but don't know how to do the angles.  Also, are there only one tenon per joint or do you use multiple?

I'm working on some lounge type chairs for my breakfast area.  We needed an unusual size dinette table and we wanted lounge chairs.  The kitchen is eclectic with a mid century mod flavor and there was nothing new or vintage at any price that really fit our needs.  So I made that (using dominoes of course)  with a concrete table top.  The chairs will be on casters and have a tilt swivel base for the seat.  What I have here is a prototype with a simple piece of plywood and loose cushion for testing.  It's been in use now for almost 2 months and if it holds up then there will be three more.

This chair will have a lot of stresses from a lot of directions.  I weigh 285 and so far it's been up to the task.  I plan on using dominoes for the seat, back and arms.  The wood is European beech.
