How much run out to expect on the C12

I was playing with a big size centrotec drill bit today and I noticed the bit was wondering all over the place.
I did put back the bit holder and I could see some run out.
I first though I did wear out the centrotec chuck so I put a new one and got the same result.
I don't remember seeing any run out when the drill was brand new.

How much run out if any should I expect to have with the C12 and centrotec chuck?

Hi Emmanuel,

How big is big?
It may pay to check that the grub screw on the side of the centrotec device (which holds the drill bit in) is secure.

Rob,

l tried several bits and they all have visible run out.
How big is big? Its hard to say but clearly visible to the naked eye.
Any idea how to measure it? I am thinking clamping the C12 and using a dial indicator.

I had the same problem, I sent the drill in to festool for repair and the fixed it to be perfect.

I just got my new C12 recently and also found the run out to be extreme -- and it was the same with the other chucks UNTIL I noticed a small piece of debris come loose as I was changing out chucks.  Yep, everything was running true after that.  Hope you can be so fortunate.

I did some more tests and I definitively will have to contact festool support :'(
