How should a New Kapex look like in the box as you open it?

I just received a Kapex thru fedex that looks like it might be a return, opened, or poorly packed.  The machine arrived with just shipping straps holding one end closed.  No package wrap on one end.  Looking in the box, their was no plastic wrap around the machine (Don't know if there should be.  No box of accessories, just the owners manual and festool card.  Is this the way they come, or should there be an accessory box or something else?  Can owners share their opening box experience?

I need to determine if I should request a replacement or keep it as is.

regards,

jim

As far as I recall, there wasn't any plastic wrap on mine, nor a box for accessories. Those were pinned in the foam. A zip tie held the head in place.

Make sure you find the little allen wrench for the laser adjustment. Had I not read about that on here, it would have been in the recycling center with the rest of the packing materials.

As - and I really hate to type forum names at times - Fatroman said, there is the Kapex and somewhere there is a little hex key.  It might be stuck in the styrofoam, or it might have wiggled it'sself loose.

Here's what I got a few years back when I slide it out of the box.  Not the allen key stuck in the styrofoam.

The photos Brice shared look like all of my Kapex as I started to remove them from their cartons. My first Kapex had been set up by my dealer before I took delivery. The others I bought new arrived at my dealer in bulk pallets from Festool USA in Lebanon so there was no shipping damage. The one I bought from my frame and door specialist is his original one. He took delivery of it from our dealer just ahead of me and his Kapex was in its carton when he put it into his truck to take it home.

Be sure to look for that Allen key. They tend to be in that general place in the foam, but not one exact spot. I doubt the Allen key is packed by a CNC controlled robot.

That's the way they come

I think it is  ok, just was strange to see a tool arrive without any protective plastic for rust, weather, etc.  I usually get my stuff from Bob, and he packs things much better than that big Amazon in Washington.  This was a gift, so I can't complain!

Now I have to figure out what kind of stand I want to build.  Want to have flip down stops on either side in inches!

Thanks for the quick responses.  This is a great group!

Festool is very particular about making sure the packaging is green, eco-friendly. That's the reason for no plastic bags and the like if it can be avoided. Thanks for members stepping in to offer assistance and photos.  [thumbs up]

There should be a plastic movement limiting sleeve of one of the slide tubes ... if that's not present it's certainly been out and played with!

Oh! Didn't notice that little wrench. I think I still have the box...I figure its a stand metric size anyways.
