How're you holding up, eastern U.S.?

Just at the first of 3 high tides we will have during the storm, the back bay is full to the point there is nowhere for the water on land to drain to. The bay near us is bulkheaded so the high tide won't typically flood onto land, but the drains into the bay are below water at this point so the streets cannot drain into the bay. We have about a foot of water flowing past the house:

Due to the 50 MPH winds the bays won't drain fully before the next 2 high tides, so if we get a lot more water the flooding could be worse. Prediction is it will crest somewhere around 7' above MHWL, Sandy was 9'+. Should stay dry.

House faces about 10 degrees east of north, nor'easter winds hit us dead on. Lost one hanging porch light so far, but the internet still works. Looks like a good day for coffee and a screwdriver.

Hope everyone is staying dry out there.

Richard, stay safe and dry!  If it freezes you could break out the ice skates and have a street hockey game. Just snow up in central NJ.

We have about an inch so far in North Atlanta and it's still coming down.  High winds, too.

Up to 10" in south Jersey.  Just sholved the driveway, its quite heavy.  Not looking forward to doing the part where the plow hits.

Anyone wanna swing by with a snowblower?

In Charlotte NC, we have about 2in of ice.  My truck will not move.  My wife's Subaru Outback loves it!!!!  My daughter and I had a lot of fun sledding today.

This is the view from my brothers home in Virginia. He tells me the snow is very light and powdery. No use to build snowmen or make snowballs.[attachimg=1]

More pics would be good.

The sane adult in me knows snow is a PITA for a lot of people, but my inner child loves seeing it. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your feelings towards the white stuff, we don't get it often in southern UK.

[member=49749]Locks14[/member] - how does that kid feel about water...?

The fire hydrant is my yardstick - if the water reaches the level of the green cap I will need to figure out how to move the truck up onto some lumber ramps to get a bit more elevation.

PS - Snow is only good for postcards.

You need a lift kit, some bigger tires and a snorkel.  Lol

Hollywood would have me believe that you Yanks all have either a fishing boat, jet-ski or kayak in your garage. So I'm sure you'll be fine!

On a serious note though, I hope the water level subsides soon for you!

In Philadelphia we have about 15"

The wind has been very strong and causing lots of drifting

Ha! We do have a paddleboard, really prefer not to test my balance today however. That water looks a mite nippy.

On another note, it occurred to us this AM that our neighbor's house, raised about 12' (3 years after Sandy) and resting on cribs of 6 by 6 timbers in preparation for the new foundations to be build, is a prime target for 50-70 MPH winds...

It never looked too stable in the first place, at least the wind would blow it away from our home.

Hang in there Richard [sad]

[member=3192]rvieceli[/member] - Thanks Ron, we took the opportunity to have our own version of a hurricane party... Pancakes, bacon and screwdrivers.  [big grin]

Hang in there guys!  Still snowing like crazy here but the end is near - I hope.  For the inner child within all of us:

And one more.  The dog on the left is MacGyver who gained fame during the Fogtainer project and the pup is Indiana Jones .  Must be nice to have a big brother to dig a stick out of the snow for you.
