Hybrid Cordless/corded TS 55???

It seems that the brushless motor on the TS555c is superior to the 120 volt NA TS55. I haven't used either one, but have heard many complain a lack of power on the corded model. As I contemplate which to buy I feel that a hybrid would be the ultimate in form and function. Here's why-

- Brushless motor smoother and more efficient, so the TSC would be the choice except...
- Additional cost and hassle of having to have batteries charged as well as less ergonomic due to the bulk of batteries.

I plan on using mostly in shop so I lean towards the corded, but Festool seems to be unwilling to update the NA 120 volt saw as they have over seas(The new TS55 uses the thinner blade and has electric brake?). Not very inspiring to purchase old technology for current premium prices.

In addition, the motor is better and having the ability to run the saw without a power cord seems like it could come in handy and I would regret not having the option.

Hybrid would solve all dilemmas and the technology exists(hybrid sander in NA and I think they have it on a router as well)
Make a power adapter(transformer) for the 18volt platform. It seems like a no brainer and would be hugely popular.

I wouldn't want to lay out a grand right before it comes out.  [sad]

Any thoughts?

I thought the same when I first got my TSC55 but to tell you the truth I am very happy with the performance of the batteries. Plus the flexibility to use 15V batteries in the saw let's me use my two 15V batteries in addition to my other 18V batteries to back up the two 18V batteries that came with the saw. So I have plenty of battery capacity and never have to deal with a cord which I love. I will gladly deal with the extra weight of the batteries to eliminate the cord and gain the freedom to move where ever I want in the shop with no leash. And as fast as the Airstream batteries recharge it's not an issue to begin with. I can fully recharge the batteries in about 30 minutes, so lunch break top them off and good to go for the rest of the day. If not I have spares.

Yes, it is true that batteries are not forever. I have 20+ year old corded saws, drills, and other tools and never have to worry about batteries failing. But I think the freedom of no cord is worth it.

If there's concern of not having enough batteries, get the Energy Set that's for sale right now and a heck of a deal.
