  Hello Folks,

I stuck a regular bit in the motor of the TI 15 impact driver.
When I say stuck, I ain't kidding. Any ideas of removal short of sending it in to festool?

Put the bit on the fastener, Ti in reverse, quick pull of the trigger, one or two impacts. May have to do this a few times to break the bit loose.

You got nothing on me in the idiot department.

Tom

Thanks Tom,

But no cigar. Neither was the vise and dead blow hammer as suggested by Brad at festool. Shipping label is on its way.
So folks don't be like me and try this at home. A driver bit fits easily into the motor but is very reluctant to leave.

Mind snapping a picture where you managed to stick it? I can't picture it in my mind...

That's a new one. At least you're original!

Did it literally slide in smoothly and then refuse to come out? Also, what size was/is the bit. 1/4" ?

I'm asking because I always assume that if someone else can make that mistake, so can I. As I've stated before, a smart person learns from others mistakes. Unfortunately I seem to have to make them all myself before *I* learn.

Oh yeah, it slid in like it belonged there, accompanied by a sense of liberation. Then the disenchantment.

I'd try a "live" blow hammer and tap all around it at the tip for leverage and impact.

It sounds like you're suggesting it distorted because it wasn't an impact bit?

Tom

No Tom,

I am not suggesting anything of the sort.
I drove zip, nada nothing. Just put it in, then tried to take it out.

Any chance you could use a tap and die and put some threads on it?
Put a couple of nuts on and use a bearing puller.
I know it's very hard metal, just a thought.

Per it is nice to hear from you, it's been a long time.  Unfortunately it is a bad situation.

Thanks for the suggestion but no, its going to service at Festool.
We have more impacts then hands so its no biggy.

Spray it generously with WD40, but cover the rest of the drill with a cloth. Let it soak a while and try to remove the bit again with a vise or a wrench. WD40 can do wonders to get stuck things loose.

tighten the bit in a vice, one person to support the drill and then use a brass drift against the holder and strike with a hammer

If that don't work, get a BIGGER hammer. 8)
