I am heavily invested in Festool with TS55, OF1400, MFT/3, CXS, RO90 and its a shame I may have to get divorced. It all started with one of the cams on my MFT (Part 448833) that allows you to adjust and tighten the height of the track. It broke. So I call Festool, get part numbers for the cam and for the 22-mm wrench for the OF-1400 (Part 401745). Put in an order (not the first time I have ordered parts from Festool).

The guy I spoke with told me that Festool doesn't ship to PO Boxes (which is a necessity on the Island because the US Mail does not deliver everywhere, and I am in one of those wheres that they dont deliver to). I reminded him (and he was able to confirm) that I have received items from Festool at my PO Box. I think I heard him say that Festool items are too big to fit into PO boxes, and that Festool does not ship to PO boxes, period. Not only that, Festool does not ship to Puerto Rico. What? What changed?

Festool has been breaking my heart a lot lately. Annual 10% price increases for the past two or three years. Just bought a Bosch Colt because I could not get answers about the MFK700's performance and capabilities. Buying a Fein 350Q today because I cannot justify paying more than twice as much for a tool that i just for making holes. I guess I'll just run my festools till they die, because I still really like them.

I am frustrated and I feel more than a little bit insulted by this whole thing. Puerto Rico is owned by the USA, we are not independent, and we are not international.

Why not try to see if there is a Festool dealer that will ship to you?

woodworking, like dealing with manufacturer situations when they come up, is all about problem solving, workarounds and the like.  try to figure out how to get shipments using other carriers, try to figure out how to read specs on the mfg site regarding a particular tool.  these will be useful skills when you'll be needing customer service and parts for your colt etc.
am i the only one who's irked by the plethora of unreasonable complainers that have populated the forum topics lately?

Give him a break, he's been around for 4 years and his points are valid.

pugilato, as long you have the part number any dealer should be able to order it for you.

Just because of this bad experience dont throw the baby with the bathwater.

Vijay

Talk to your dealer .Someone in Miami or New York is probably far more familiar with the ins and outs of shipping to PR.  Chris

Ah yes, I love those silly no PO Box rules companies make. If the package is too big they put a tag in the box and I go to the counter and sign for it, it's not hard. No, instead they use a shipper who leaves my boxes at the door for thieves to steal, brilliant!

Before this goes to far... I'm checking on this and hope to have some information to share soon. Sit tight everyone.

Pugilato has a unique set of circumstances. I am sure Shane will find an elegant solution to help him going forward. I think it says volumes thatere is a mechanism in place by which this has a chance to happen.

Unreasonable? Give me a break... I'm just trying to continue using my beloved MFT.

Like I said... I'm checking on this.

The simplest solution would be if a UPS-deliverable shipping address could be provided. That is our courier for these shipments.

A work address, a family member's address, etc. would do.

Puglito,

Though I have not ordered from Festool directly to my APO,  you could go to a dealer and have him get you the parts you need.

Another option is have them deliver the parts to a friends house and have him fwd it to you. There are 3rd party companies that will receive the parts and ship them to you as well.
UPs from what I understand does not ship to APOs however USPS does.

I ship to Puerto Rico all the time, using USPS. You can get a free Priority Mail box at the post office and can add tracking, even signature confirmation if you choose. Or for small parts you can ship a 1st class mail package (up to 13oz).

This guy does not have an APO, he has a PO Box, just like any CONUS based one, it just happens to be in Puerto Rico. Piece of cake if you ask me!

(PS - Hi Ron!)

Well, I can understand the frustration- however, I would be surprised if jumping to a different manufacturer is going to give you much of a solution.  I would be curious to hear how easy it is for you to get parts for your Bosch Colt or your Fein....  At least with Festool you have this awesome forum resource and someone who actually works for the company that you can talk to.  Worse comes to worse, you could just ask a forum member to ship one to you and I am sure you would get a taker.  I've been amazed at the generosity of the folks here.  I had one member, unasked, mail me free parts for my INCA saw a few years back just because I mentioned it in a thread.  Amazing.

Thanks, guys... not trying to be controversial or anything. Shane, thanks (as always) for your efforts. Closest family is 2 hr away, and I really cant drive that far (vestibular neuritis which causes vertigo and other nastiness). Going to the closest Festool dealer is not going to work because there are none on the Island.

I know some companies that use UPS for their shipping can have UPS transfer the package to USPS. Very few Festool dealers on the internet ship to Puerto Rico (lost opportunities?). The few that I know do, I could not find the parts on their site. Just a note to call the Festool number.

I got a need and the means to fulfill it, you would think someone would say "I got it" and complete the transaction. I am certain that this is a misunderstanding is all and I hope I can get my parts.

For what it's worth, I prefer to ship to my PO Box for security reasons. Perhaps Festool might benefit to have a USPS shipping option. It's where I receive most of my Amazon orders.

pugilato-

as has been suggested, I am certainly willing to receive your parts here in Nevada, and then send them on to you in PR if you need that option. My guess is that Festool will figure it out first though. Just an offer---  ;)
