I am DONE with Festool

Paul,

We use UPS because it can be insured and is traceable. I think this is normal for most companies.

Shane, this may help all parties involved... UPS does forward to USPS (UPS-USPS transfers link).

Sorry, but so is USPS. Priority Mail currently includes tracking and $50 insurance (more insurance can be added). I know many Festool items may be large and heavy and UPS may be a better option for those items, surely small parts can easily be sent USPS without much fuss.

My offer stands to the OP.

I appreciate that, Paul, but my pride compels me to resolve this with Festool. Already we can't buy reconditioned tools and such, but perhaps if I insist, I will be able to buy a reconditioned something or other next time, and won't have to go through this unfortunate situation the next time something breaks. Call it an educational crusade... We exist, we are loyal citizens, we go to war when called (look up the 65th Infantry Regiment. Even though every decision the President makes affects us, we have no word in selecting him (unless we are living stateside). I think we are the only colony left on God's green earth.

I lived for almost 30 yr stateside (TX, KS, FL, AL) and most of the people I met in my travels are fine and honorable. So any rant I made is simply against the institutions that tend to hold us down. And politicians too...

Standing offer, if you need something, I will personally courier it down for you and save you the expense of added insurance.  All I ask in return is a RT plane ticket, a place to stay, some home cooked food and...oh yeah, some booze would be good too!  But if all that is a bit much, I have a post office in my town that will be happy to get your goods to you.  I know you want to educate Festool, but in the mean time...

And USPS is usually noticeable cheaper than UPS, even to Canada.....

Agree with you on shorter distances an/or lighter item, but not so much for heavier items shipped half to all the way across country. I usually ship via FedEx Ground as they offer the same service for what is often less than UPS and almost always less than the USPS.

The flat rate USPS boxes are usually a good deal for small but heavy items. First class mail beats every other option hands down if the package is less than 13 ounces.

For best pricing at UPS, the USPS, and FedEx you do need a free account and need to package, weigh, and label the item yourself. FedEx Office and the UPS Store, while being full service cost more.

One oddity in all this is a combo FedEx/USPS option that in my experience has been cheaper than shipping solely by FedEx or USPS. FedEx accepts the package and then gets it close and passes to the USPS for final delivery. Very odd.

Not relevant here but shipping a sold item with eBay shipping includes a very good discount.

When I Said contact a Festool deal I didn't mean locally. I meant like Tom, Bob, Aldo etc. I'm sure they can get the parts and get them to you. May take a tad longer but you'll get them.

United Parcel Service can ship to a UPS store and you can pick your package up there. I have even gone to the UPS distribution center to pick up and ship packages.

After some internal discussion about our shipping policies, unfortunately we cannot accommodate shipping to a PO Box. As other have suggested, you may want to speak to your Festool dealer, especially if they originally shipped to your PO Box.

Pugilato, I have both of those parts that I can pull off my mft (and the collet wrench). I'd be happy to send them to you if you would like and then just have Festool send the parts to me...or as others have offered, I can receive the parts and send them to you if you need!

Can't or won't?

Oh, well... I had already made alternate arrangements. Thanks for trying, and thanks to all of you who offered to help.
