Besides the depth of cut and power being the major differences between the two, can someone help me decide between the two.  I make cabinetry, and at times furniture, we use up to 2" lumber (hardwood) as well as plywood.

Thank you in advance,

David.

the question is really which track saw should i buy first right?

the ts55 first for sure. i'm sure you have everything you need to square up bigger rough lumber in the meantime.

Hi

You should also consider the difference in weight. I would advice in getting the 55 with 3 different blades: 48 tooth (comes with the saw), 28 tooth universal and a 12 tooth Panther blade for ripping.

David,   [welcome] to the FOG!  My suggestion would be to go with the tool that would maximize its usage in your situation.  This is where the 30 day return policy really could be a benefit.  Use it in YOUR situation and see.  If you more regularly use sheet goods and materials less than 1 15/16" in thickness - then the TS-55 REQ would be the one.  If you more often use thicker than 1 15/16" then the TS-75 would be better.  My guess would be the TS-55REQ.

Aside from depth of cut and a slip clutch, keep in mind some of the redesigned features of the new TS 55 R: better dust extraction, flusher cutting to adjacent material, better bevel control and range, micro adjustability of depth.

Also, do not forget the subpar ergonomics of the 75 vs the 55 and 55R.  Heavier and significantly larger.

Trick question?

Unfortunately the TS55 is a gem (and the "R"). The TS75 beckons 5~10% of the time and I'm still to bend as I still have a bunch of Hitachi's and top end blades for them (but it's only a matter of time).

The 55 excels at sheet goods and modest stock, the 75 is the heavy lifter ... nobody wants to drive a truck when the road suits a sports car [wink]

Hi David,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

How much and often do you cut 2" lumber?

Seth
