I figured out how to make the Domino work with 1/2" material (Pics)

here's how you can tell the mod. The modification is at the 12:00 o'clock position in relation to the pointer being at the 7:00 o'clock position. It's the groove that is slight rounded and about 1/2 inch long.

I used a file to grind down the part.  It worked great, and I could keep testing as I went.

Again, GREAT find, Bill.

I made some "domi-drawers" for my router table out of 1/2" stock after this mod and they came out great (especially considering it was my first attempt at drawers of any kind!)

Thanks, Bill.  Haven't done it yet, but motivation is building now that I see Festool's going to sell 4mm dominos.

Regards,

John

I purchased my Domino last week and I've noticed on the end of the area where you've cut your 45, I have a 45 cut one the end/corner of that metal piece.  I can see if they didn't make the 45 on the corner it would stop coming down sooner.  Don't know if I have this right by I don't see the 45 at the end of the piece you cut.

Another simple method that works is to make two shims from 1/8 plexiglass that match the vertical and horizontal faces of the domino jointer. You cut through the face jig with the domino cutter once to make the hole. Keep them both in the box and tape them on when you need to do 1/2" stock

Do you have any pictures of how the plexiglass works.  In the woodcraft shop someone told me to get 2mm thick material? Was that correct for using 1/2 inch stock?
