I finally made my Sys-Radio!

Well, I've always wanted to make some type of speakers mounted to a systainer and my options were Oscars or play in the shop! 

I took apart my Makita jobsite radio and salvaged the face and mounted that inside the Sys-3. I cut 2 3/4" holes on the side of the systainer and mounted the speakers.

Why might you ask...I did this for two reasons...first, I'm a geek and I like to mess with things!  Second, I work alone and want to minimize my trips on the jobsite...since systainers mont to others, I'll latch and go!

I thought it'd be a fun little mod on a quiet Sunday night!

Making a sys-radio-cd-player is on my list of things to do.  I like the way that you utilized your Makita jobsite radio.  I have a Bosch job-site radio-cd-player but the cd-player no longer works.  I may see what I can salvage from it, augment that with stuff that work and slap it all into a systainer.

How did you handle the power source for the radio?

Jon, I just drilled a hole in the back of the Sys for the power and aux cables. Having kept the original face of the Makita radio allows me to power up the same way it used to.

As a side note, I was messing around with a pair of alpine type s 6 1/2" speakers and plugged it to that radio...wow they sounded pretty sweet. Only problem was the Sys-3 won't allow that much space for that size speaker. I might look into something slightly larger than the 7watt 3" speakers that came with the radio

I watch so little TV that I didn`t even know thay were on last night. [embarassed]  But, had I known, I certtainly would not of watched.  Instead, I finished reading a very good book.  [big grin]
