i agree with nick also, when I go into a store to buy a tool I have already researched it online, forums questions etc. and am ready to buy. my local woodcraft store in charlotte is great with knowledge on festool. most of the sales guys their know almost as much as I do and will search for the answers if I need to know. but they do a great job also at keeping in stock and test drives available.
do your research on line, demos at the store and maybe take a few minutes to educate the sales employee with your knowledge and then he will be able to help the next person better, and you have done a good deed for the day!
