I know I'm an idiot, but am I doing something wrong???

Is this suggesting that I should take my hardly-used 4 year old Rotex in to see if it needs adjusting???

Not sure if the comment is in jest or not, but my sander was only a year old and the warranty is 3 yrs. So, if your barely used Rotex is in need of adjusting, go ahead...my guess is that you’ll pay for it though?

I thought the problem was just me, but the posts are suggesting that it might be the machine. If it was within the three years, then I would just send it in for assessment.

Do you have a local go-to Festool dealer?
If so maybe ask if it's ok to swing by with a your rotex, a workpiece where it gives you trouble and some of your abrasive disks - to compare the handling or your rotex to his demo side by side.

Possibly they both handle the same, then he might have some tips for you to change the way you handle the machine to avoid the issue... and if they don't an you, and possibly also he, notice a difference then a new pad might help (which could be tested directly, as these should be standard display stock) - or it's time to send it in for service (which you could directly initiate as you're already there).
