I LOVE my KAPEX and wings

With all of the "anti" stuff dribbling all over the forum lately, I thought it would be good to point out exactly why I LOVE MY KAPEX.

For me the KAPEX sits in my garage alongside a CT36. In it dormant state is rests in it's UG cart with the wings in their sleeve, resting in the UG cart frame.

When I want to cut something it's simply a matter of rolling the cart and the CT out to the connected under cover area and setting up. In less than 5 minutes I'm fully set up with everything plugged in and ready to cut.

After the work is done, five minutes and everything is packed away and clean.

So the bottom line is, if I have a spare hour I can be effective.

When the Hitachi was my compound mitre saw solution, the setup and cleanup would take the best part of an hour in total ... bottom line, I did sweet fanny adams for many years.

As a side note - I've seen mention that people shut their eyes when they're using their KAPEX because they are "afraid of projectiles". Why anyone would think that their eyesight is worth gambling on even the most amazing tool completely amazes me ... protective glasses, goggles, visors cost a few dollars. I'm not certain ho much human eyes are worth ... but probably more than the most expensive Festool !!!

I really like mines too. I have the old style mounted to some cabs I built for infeed and out feed

hey Kev you are right about the eyes but you would be supprised how many people i see not sporting eye protection when using all sorts of tools , like you say what price can you put on your eyes, i have had mine for many years and intend to keep them for as long as i can, i have a couple of capex 120's with the mft's i have held out on buying the ug set and wings as i thought festool may do a rework on the wheels to allow for moving up stairs but up to now they have not so maybe i will bite the bullet and make the purchase , on another note i wish festool would make a trolley for the mft3 boy that ain't fun carrying that beast up four flights of stairs, green.

My kapex is my most used as well as favorite tool I own. I will say there is a learning curve when using the kapex to achieve maximum dust extraction as well as preventing projectiles. But once you use the saw for a few weeks it comes naturally and now I don't like using many other mitersaws. Heres a video I just did on the all the killer features of the kapex, my favorite Festool to date!!

I too want a Kapex. Stupid question - how big is it when folded up on the Ug? Catalog doesn't really give those specs and my local dealer doesn't stock one. I am building tool racks in my trailer and want to leave room for a Kapex/Ug/Wings. Thanks.

I didn't need a Kapex.  I had two miter saws and a radial arm saw in my garage.  A Delta 10 inch and a Kolbalt 10 inch compound slider.

The radial arm saw was a Craftsman from 1974, older then me!!   I sold all the saws to make room for the Kapex.

But I am a big clean freak.  So much so, I would stop working on a project just to clean up.  I need to be organized.  Everything must

have it's place.  My wife says I have O.C.D.

So when I watched a couple Kapex video's online, I NEEDED the Kapex.  So dust collection on the Kapex sold me.  Everything else was just nice to have.

But  since I have used it for a little while I have come to love a couple more of its features.

I love the variable speed.  The dual laser, the bevel adjustments.....just love the Kapex all together.

The price of the Kapex didn't bother me at all.  Because I have made several Festool purchases before I bought the Kapex, I knew I was getting a top notch

quality tool.

Is the Kapex for eveyone?   No, but I know of 6 good friends of mine that wish they had one sitting in their garage!   [big grin]

So much so, my friend of 20 plus years started saving for a Kapex.   I wish he would buy a TS 55 so he would stop asking me to borrow mine.

Now that I have a Kapex I need to do some major remodeling of my garage shop.

Reinhold, great videos bro!   Your video is what I was looking for when I was doing my research on the Kapex.  I was a bit upset that there wasn't a

great Kapex review on Youtube.   I'm sure your review will help others make that purchase,  I hope you get compensated from Festool when the

Kapex sales go thru the roof!   [wink]

And yes,  If you don't wear safety glasses you are asking for trouble.  Nothing is 100 % safe.  I just don't understand why some guys thing they are too

cool for safety glasses.  I keep at lease 4 pair of safety glasses around for my buddies when they come over.  If they don't wear them, they can't play with

the toys.

For everyone who wants or is thinking about buying a Kapex.  Like the old Nike slogan,   JUST DO IT!!!!!!

Dave Reinhold,  I am putting a block order on my computer blocking ALL of your postings (and especially your demo postings) from my computer.  Permanantly  (well until i run across another of your demos  [ban][blink])

I have watched many Kapex demos over the pst couple of years.  My problem with your demo is that you have shown points i have not seen anywhere else.  You are just so damned thorough.  You don't miss a beat. [dead horse]

Darnit, i am not a computer whiz and just can't seem to figure how to block you.  Soooo i will just have to suffer until i can run to my toystore and get a Kapex.  For your other demos, i will just have to practice avoidance   ::)

Tinker,

I hope you figure out how to block me soon as I have some more Festool "tool porn" videos coming soon....  [tongue]

My DeWalt CSMS has been relegated to exterior trim etc... The kapex is never handled by anybody other than myself. It is money well spent if you call yourself a professional

I too love the my Kapex! It is a show off tool. so clean of cuts, so easy, so clean. Could it be better....yea...so could I... I'm happy with both and me as is....LOL.

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Dave - I have just learnt more about the Kapex.
All that was missing is the free steak knives!
