I need a new blade for a ts55

I need a new blade for my ts55 it will be used mostly for cutting mdf and other sheet goods. what blade would you suggest buying?

I would suggest the 48T blade (the one that comes included with the TS55).

Hi the blade is worn and I think there are some new festool blades, and want to make sure I get the right one.

If you haven't given the old blade a good cleaning you'll be surprised how much better it cuts after you do.

The aren't any new type of blades available that I know off, but some time ago they have made the kerf of all the blades 2.2 mm, before it was a bit wider on some other blades, so now, the rubberstrip on the guiderail shouldn't be affected by changing bladetypes.

For your applications you could also use the 28T universal blade, but I would still recommend the 48T blade, because it gives a much nicer edge.

Hi that's what I was wondering about I remembered that the blades were changed at some point I think I will take your advice and get the 48t.

I'd stick with the 48 tooth...

Tenryu makes a replacement blade that will fit the saw and is less expensive than the Festool

Try cleaning with oven cleaner to revive your old blade, you can also have them sharpened.

I wouldn't use oven cleaner.  Too nasty to you and to your blades.  The blade and bit cleaners or Simple Green work just fine for a spray on cleaning and are much nicer to be exposed to.  Kerosene or strong Coffee work great for a soak.

On another forum I belong to, washing soda (not to be confused with baking soda), is an economical, safe, and very effective way to clean blades.  When I run out of my current Lee Valley bought product, I'm switching to that solution.  For those who care to read more....

hi, even if you get a new blade get the old one sharpened as a spare. It works out at about 20p a tooth

That was a very interesting review. Thanks for posting.
it proves my experience with the Fine blade from Festool, i'm always using for Ply and Melamin/MDF.
I'm still living since 2005 with 3 sawblades, which i have in turn for re-sharpening. Each blade is at least 3x times re-sharpened.
