191 Eq events in the past week - not many over 3 though - an easy week.

Personally, tornadoes really scare me.

A few years ago, we had a tornado hit here too, it killed 22 people. I have a friend I work with, and he decided to go out with his other coworkers that night. All of his neighbors were killed, and his whole house was gone, the only item of his he still could find was his checkbook, it was still on top of his microwave in the front yard.

Basically you are all a bunch of wimps. ;D In 1964 I was living in Alaska when the second largest earthquake of the 20th Century hit at 9.2 and lasted for 4 minutes. It also had 52 aftershocks of which 11 of them were recorded as 6.0 or higher.  8) Like some of the other guys have said living in earthquake country is more than a little interesting. In my 13 years in Alaska we rode out thousands of earthquakes and you truly never really get used to the big ones. As a trivial piece of information the state of Alaska averages 1000 earthquakes a year of 3.5 or higher. Fred

I will stay a whimp, I would rather deal with tornados, because at least you have a warning.

Now that is what I call a real EQ event!!!  None of this wimpy 5.4 stuff.

See all this weird stuff happens in tornadoes.  EQs are pretty straight forward.  ;D

I saw a tornado off in the distance before. It is unbelievable how they change direction. I can say it was the most scared I was in my life. Of course I had to watch it though and not take cover!

We had a 4.7 here in Reno late last night. Reports of minor damage and a flume that carries water to a local water treatment plan ruptured. We've had quite a few over the last few weeks, but last night's was the first one I felt. There was also a 6-something magnitude quake out near Elko, NV a couple of months ago.

So, stay tuned - there may be beachfront property available in Nevada in the not too distant future  ;D

As something like 90% of Nevada is owned by the federal government, you can probably talk with your congressman.
