Hello Foggers,
Has anyone ever built a base like this? I'm reaching out to see if anyone would be willing to share their plans/dimensions or have a link to such info.
Thanks in advance,
JC

Have done vacuum veneering before? Do you have any more info then the pic? Table size?

I did a quick Sketchup, should get you started. Plywood form with veneer is pretty standard way of doing this. Apparently we can't attach Sketchup files anymore. PM me if you want the Sketchup file. Pic of Sketchup drawing attached.

Thanks John. That is Awesome.
The table is a glass oval approx 30"x50". I haven't figured out the height I want yet. Probably close to 30" or so. I will need to measure my dining room table height and use that.
Would you mind if I printed out the photo with the superimposed sketchup file? I can then use my Project -A - Scope to create full size patterns.
Again, thank you very much.
As for vacuum veneering, I have never done it before, but my step father, who builds airplanes and telescopes, will teach me how as he has done it 100's of times. He mold's his carbon fiber sheets around mdf molds for his telescopes that he builds with his vacuum press.
Cheers,
JC

I could use some more info. I have a 6" (150-mm) optic that needs a tube. But I have had trouble considering how to do the mould.
