I am in the idea phase for a workshop project. In the picture, you see the view into my garage/workshop from just inside toward the back. The garage is 1 wide x 2 deep, with a bumpout on the right side.
I'd like to put built in cabinets across the back wall of the garage, set off the floor in a PT base and going up to the top plate of the wall (8 feet ish). I think there will be about 6 cabinets across, and they'll be designed to swallow most of the 'stuff' sitting out - yard & garden tools, garage supplies, tools etc, bike parts, kids toys etc. I will also make at least one cabinet along the back to hold guide rails and larger Festool related parts.
On the back wall along the bumpout (where you see hanging shelves with a stack of red parst organizers, I will build another set of cabinets that sit on a PT base and run to the ceiling. The lower part of these cabinets (below window) will be deep enough for systainers - the upper parts will be shallower.
All of these cabinets will be made using Birch or Baltic Birch plywood, using Festool parallel guides, LR32 holes and hinge cups, domino construction on boxes. I think the doors may be single piece plywood, but I may use Baltic Birch for that and smooth the edges and seal it with a natural finish.
I'm generally looking for feedback on this. I'm also looking for ideas on locks, drawers for systainers.
Since I'll be leaving my festool gear in a garage, does anybody have recommendations for Locks that might be compatible with the LR32 system?
For systainers, I assume most good drawer slides are compatible with the LR32 system? Is there a good design for the drawers that hold the systainers? I'd like the systainer storage to allow the box to slide out & be accessed w/o removing.
I also think i'll want an outlet in the cabinet for charging.
Anything else I should think about?
Thanks
