Hello FOG,

I am in the middle of organizing my garage/shop and I am wondering how everyone hangs their guide rails on the wall. Do you use peg hooks, nails...what?  I am looking for some ideas.

Thanks,

Keith

I use the hole that is in the rail.  I screwed a Kreg screw, pan head, into the wall and just let them all hang.  They have been hanging for a long time with no issues.

For the 3000mm rail, I made some "L" style brackets with scrap wood.  4 or 5 of them to support the 3000mm rail and it's mounted
horizontal  to the ground.  With another "L" style bracket above the rail that swings left or right to hold the rail in place.  I swing the piece of wood to the right to unlock the rail and lift it off the "L" style bracket.

I tend to over think things a lot.    I've been trying to keep things simple and not over think the process.  This is one of the things that I've tried to keep simple and it has been working for me.  [wink]

I do the same with all of my rails, use an L shaped piece of wood to hold then horizontal to the ground, but i don't have one to swing on the top just made them about 5 inches tall and they wont fall out.

If you have a roll up garage door, Fog user WOW made some clips and he stores the rails on the door! I tried to find some photos quickly, perhaps he will chime in...

I used SS trim screws and buried the tread so only the smooth shank was left exposed. I am able to hang two tracks (55") face to face, my 3 M. is on it's on shelf hung off the top of my trailer and my holey has a shelf in the work bench. I try to keep them where I use them the most, the less steps I have to take the better. B

I drill 3/4" hole in the studs, then install pieces of 3/4" dowel rod, then lay 1/4" plywood on top of the dowels, (basically just a shelf on the wall) and lay the guide rails on these shelves.  Its about 6' from the floor so its super easy to lift the rails of the shelves and lay them on the work. I keep a 118", 75", and 42" rails just a step away from where I cut and safe and secure when they are stored.

+1 Exactly what I did.  I only have two rails not counting the one on the MFT/3 which I never remove.  L shaped wood bracket works get for me.

I did the same thing with the L shaped brackets.  Only it is in my van.  I have a promaster long bed and put them on one of the side walls about 66 inches off the floor.  I basically another L on to hold my jamb level.  It works like a charm.

Thank you are for the replies and ideas. I will probably make the "L" brackets for my long rails. I like the garage door idea, but my door is not insulated and is going to be replaced this coming year.

Thanks again,

Keith

I just post an idea to one of WOW issue earlier, it on location of the rails. just mount them above the bottom 2 or 3 panels. B

I been trying to come with some ideas as I'm trying to organize my garage shop better,  here what i come with for holding multiple rails, i have a 2700, 1900 , 1400, 1400 holey, 1080 for mft and 800.
I can't remember excatly where i seen the idea, but it was from pictures of guys shops on here and i made to sit my needs.

Cheers

Its normally a little less cluttered, but Im in the middle of a couple projects. You know how that goes especially in a small UK garage shop.

I took the photo with out moving things outta the way.

Thats one thing I do miss in the states is a decent size shop where I can walk around and not bump into things
