I am enjoying a return to woodworking after 15-ish years away from it. I was delighted to discover that the local woodworking store has been resurrected by someone after the pandemic.
And then I was horrified to see that they carry Festool. As soon as I saw that stuff in the store, I knew I was doomed.
I started the addiction with a CT-48. Years ago I let sawdust ravage my shop, and I’m determined to win the war this time. The dust extractor works nicely with my old Makita LS1013. I am tempted by a Kapex, but I’ve resisted so far.
Next I got the Domino 500. Still wondering if I should have gotten the XL, worried that I’ll end up with both.
Then I got the TS 75. And some guide rails. And clamps. And another hose. And the dust separator.
For an MFT, I went with Dash-Board.
As everyone says, all this stuff is so very high quality. And I haven’t started buying the routers and sanders yet.
I’m surprised how much woodworking has changed, and how little it has changed. I’m having a great time, learning new things, remembering things I forgot. Hopefully soon I’ll move beyond working ON my shop and make something that deserves to go in the house.
