Awhile back I was lucky enough to get to review the systand that Bror ,a member here makes. When he sent one over to me he also included the metal front part and timber rear foot so I could see how it's all constructed.

I had a bit of spare time thia week and some moisture resistant mdf so decided to copy the systand but I have left out all the holes and handles. I haven't put too much thought to what to make of it yet and was looking for ideas. One I have thought of so far is bolting my pocket hole jig to it.

This isn't going to be a commercial thing I'm just making it for me to use but you never know maybe Bror will spot the ideas and might make them available to everyone :)

Wow 240 views and no one has any ideas ??

Another thought I had was a removable section so fixed tools like the pocket hole jig can be swapped easily.

A small router table was another thought but it would obviously have to be deeper to fit a router

Tim at Benchworks has a similar offering and has done the router table and jigsaw inserts. If I remember correctly, I don't think the forum rules allow at least the jigsaw version to be discussed here, but pop over to http://www.benchworks.be/mftbrouter.html for information.

I like the removable insert idea; either a sliding dovetail or maybe some sort of knobs to fasten?

With the pocket hole jig, maybe some fold out, hinged indexing arms or something with a ruler on?

Hi Garry yeah I've seen Tim's stuff. I'm not really thinking of machines as they won't fit unless it was a deeper section. It's more fitting stuff on top like the pocket hole jig or maybe some sort of cutting jig with a short 800 rail ?

Heh, you're the one that mentioned the router...  [poke] [doh]

How about;

  • Sharpening kit / grinder?
  • Planer bench unit?
  • Upside down belt sander?
  • Orbital sander frame for edge sanding small parts at 90 degrees?
  • Pencil holder? Always losing pencils...
  • Desk top? Can never find a clear surface...

Yeah I did think about the sharpening idea. I've got a worksharp that would bolt on.

Maybe loads of threaded inserts for various tools would be an idea
