I just got on Ebay tonight and the deal of the day is a brand new EOS 5D III for $1999.99.  I could not pass it up.  Also received $40 Ebay bucks.  Smoking deal.

That is a sweet deal!  I had a 5D III and loved it.  After I stopped using it for video I sold it and got the 6D.  Didn't need the extra features of the 5D3 any longer and the 6D is slightly better in low light.  Used the extra money to help pay for a lens.

Tempting!  I am still loving my 5d mark ii.

One day, I'll fulfill my upgrade-itis…probably the day before they release a mark 4  ;D

What is your lens of choice?

I'd probably say my very favorite is the 85mm f1.2L, followed by the 70-200mm f2.8L, and the 24-70mm f2.8L as a close 3rd.

You only have until August before the mk IV is released.

My go to lense is the 24-70mm 2.8 then the 70-200mm 2.8. The other lense I use a lot is the 10-22mm

This camera blows my plans to get a new bandsaw. The sacrifices we make.

I didn't realize it was a 2015 release.  Wow!

Great kit, I bet the 10-22mm is fun for architecture and landscapes.  I really wanted to get a wide angle lens (I sold my 17-40mm f4 L lens, and wanted the 16-35mm f2.8L, but have held off) What do you like to shoot?

I do mostly candid portraits and some architectural shots.

Hope this is true. I have a 5D2 and have been planning a long EU tour in October. A 5D4 for this trip would be terrific.

I found a 5d3 on there with lens from a top rated seller for about 2500. Yours was body only, right?

I shoot some architectural, landscapes and animals. My wife and I travel quite a bit. When we went to Africa I caught the photography bug. Our guide took us to a bird sanctuary and thought is was great. Took a ton of pictures that trip.

I thought that but to be honest I don't know. I assumed they are discounting to get rid of stock. I will let you know when i get it.

Yes it is body only. I have several lenses already for my 7D.

Watch out for gray models in cameras and lenses.  Most of these will not be serviceable in the US by official factory firms.  These devices are becoming increasingly more technical.  I think they are increasingly more reliable, but if you do have problems, old Joe's Fixit Shop is not going to able to handle it.  Canon for one has uniform pricing much like Festool, so oddball prices are usually gray market

It's Nikon USA that won't service import or gray.

Canon not only services it but also honors the full 1 year warranty.  All Canon's bodies come out of the same 1 or 2 factories and Canon USA doesn't care who imported it into the US as long as you have a receipt.

I believe that Adorama and B&H Photo sell gray market also. They carry the warranty.  They do have a 30 day return policy so if I can't register it on the Canon web site I will promptly return it.

I believe the price drop is in relation to this summers new high megapixel options. Ive had this camera for a year and a half now and still love it.

Update on this camera deal.  I did have to pay $300 more to get a so called USA version.  Basically it the old bait and switch but even $2200 is still a good deal.  It will be delivered tomorrow.

He said he sells over seas, he probably does the same thing to them to get the extra money.

Keep in mind the 10-22mm won't work on the full frame 5D.  There are still lots of indy shops that will service a gray market camera, often for cheaper than Canon charges.  That being said, I still perfer the US versions.
