If you were starting fresh - what would you buy?

The Milwaukee website is junk. You can't even find the weight of these packout drawers.

It kinda looks heavy and oversized, more suited for US cars and homes.

The 3 drawer unit weights just over 10kgs.  2 drawer version is 9kgs.

Yeah well, local Milwaukee doesn't seem to care about specs. See;https://nl.milwaukeetool.eu/nl-nl/p...fer-met-drie-lades/packout-3-drawer-tool-box/
Weight is missing.

DeWalt website is just as junk. Makita is a maze regarding DC. My brother bought something like the Renofix, but of Makita. Didn't fit the Festool hose. Seller didn't know, Makita didn't have a clue, I couldn't figure it out, so on my advise he send it back and bought the Festool Renofix. Problem solved.

I’ll just leave these here …

Very nice!

Are those drawers, or shelves?

They’re shelves, [member=8955]Coen[/member]. I made an 18mm MDF template and routed a whole bunch of them in one go. Each one has 4 holes to grab the feet of the Systainer so they don’t slide out. The larger middle hole is there just to save a little weight. The shelves were then fixed into slots routed into the verticals, which were scribed to the constantly-changing side profile of the van. These pics are 4 years old - I added some more since then. It works really well.

I was going say something simular but because the OP was not here in the US I felt the systainers probably were the direction he’d be going

I am in Europe like the OP. The packout drawers are also available here (I bought them in two different countries as I am spread between two countries). The drawback in Europe is that the red colour is replaced by black, which takes out some of the lighting. I solve this by gluing white self-adhesive sheets (except of course on the top and bottom, which are used for connection and not visible).

Interesting, I have 14 of the black Ridgid tool boxes and never found the color to be an issue vs the red Packout's that I have. The red shows dirt and grime more than the black. Wish I could have gotten black Packout's in the USA.

I think this is because their "black" packouts are not pure black but "anthracite".

Color preferences are quite personal. Personaly, I like to maximise passive lighting by having as much whitish surfaces as possible (in one country my workshop is a big garage = 0 windows; in the other country it is the lower storey of a barne = 2 tiny windows).

I would be much nicer if Milwaukee would offer some colour choice like Tanos does, for personal reasons, and also for "colour coding". I have a few systainers with alternative colours = quick way of coding and locating stuff. I also use even more the variously colored T-loc catches for "coding" categories of stuff, I bought some coloured catches; also when I get a systainer with a special colour, I swap its catch with one of the standard colours (Festool flashy green or Tanos dark blue), and put the special-colour catch on a another systainer, e.g. on one with the standard withish (very light grey) colour.

I have color coding too. The longer I own the tool, or where it was stored... the more yellow the Systainer, hehe.  [tongue]

Also have some grey Panasonic-labeled Systainers, a Green/Red Metabo one, a gray Protool one, some Orange Fein ones, etc.
