nice! i think the best part of any tool is after the honeymoon phase. when it gets a new ding or scratch and youre like ehhh its just a tool its supposed to get beat up and keep at it.

the underside hehehehe i used to have a disposible sacrificial piece of wood I would install so when it got ate up I could easily replace and not wear out the top..

Then that side got more ugly from finishing work etc so I just flipped the top. The underside is even worse.

Anymore I use the MFT like its supposed to be, just cut on it. Buttttt in full disclosure I have a second mft thats in pristine condition used for dominion sanding etc. stuff that isnt going to mess up the top to bad. I do have a reaplcement top with te beat up top gets to messed up to use.

I am answering this in all honesty and hopefully no hint of perceived marketing.

When I first visited Festool back in 2009 I had some tools.  I then heard Christian say time and time again "Use the tools."  I have followed that advice and I have ugly tools.  If you were to find my youtube channel (I am not pimping it here) you would read comments about "jacked up tools".  I don't care.

In 2009 I was so totally against the idea of the MFT that I would harvested on a soap box and preached against those who loved.  The reality is that the MFT/3 really made this a more realistic TOOL for others.  The 1080 certainly didn't cut it in my mind.  But one day I read a post here from Per Swenson about a finish carpenter using the MFT/3.  A couple of days later after ruminating I ordered one.

It is a cool tool with many possibilities.  It will never in combination with the TS saws replace a table saw in every aspect.  It can though in many. 

I used to travel with a Dewalt contractor tablesaw.  I don't anymore.  I did pull it out to rip pvc pickets this past week.

Everybody's wants and needs are different.  My opinion - as shown in real life images - is far different than I went to a class back in 2009 with 18 other Foggers.

Each one of those kerfs represents either experience, education, or $$$ in my case.

I have about an acre of land.  Probably 3/4 of an acre in grass.  I am blessed that I semi-designed my house almost 24 years ago and a phenomenal builder took care of me.  Other than acidic well water eating things which the builder had no control over, I have been so blessed.

My shop (or garage) doesn't have space for a tablesaw AND a MFT table, and so only one of them can exist, unless I park one of the cars on the driveway, which is a no-no during our bone-chilling winter.

With an acre of land or so like you, I would have had a three-car garage and a dedicated, heated shop that I can work without fear of frostbites!

Alan, my old time Fogger friend.  I know that most know me here in my alternate role as a Moderator, but although I don't post many projects posts at least these images show that I do use the tool or I am just an MFT slasher.  I'll leave that the discretion or readers to decide.

Your joking mention of a Go Fund Me campaign right now was so weirdly timely - in a good way.

Last weekend was the Festool Connect event and I had a great time and got to do some stuff that I had never done before.  I also saw old friends and met new.  Obviously I have spent much time here over the years, but this year when I visited and talked there was a different vibe. 

Facebook reminded me the other day that three years ago I was having surgery for cancer.  Fast forward a small amount of time and a Go Fund Me account had been set up and publicized here to help out with uncovered expenses.

I can honestly tell you that last night I went to that Go Fund Me account online and read every name and every anonymous contribution and I cried.  I cried then and am crying now because of the generosity of so many when it mattered.

There is no way to repay the efforts and thoughts.  But I assure you and all reading that I haven't forgotten.
