I'm new to the Kool-Aid with a TS 55 and T 18 - what's special about MFT?

And MFT makes a lot of things easier but isn't technically "necessary" for almost anything. A custom built unit could be better in many cases (many folks make the Ron Paulk table if they have the space, for instance, and that's not even technically custom if you copy someone elses). The MFT is foldable and transportable though, and I think that has always been a main selling point, even if many people seem to just leave theirs set up in their garage. The idea is that you have a versatile worktop you can bring to any job. Just like systainers really mostly make sense when you need to bring your tools, not store them in the workshop, even though that looks nice and tidy too.

The MFT Festool or home made, is so versatile it would take a very long post to cover everything.
They are very, very useful both in a workshop and going out on site with.

The added bonus is, on a hot day, you have somewhere to rest the Kool-Aid  [blink] ;)
