I was looking into the Festool CXS drills and noticed that it doesn't have an eccentric chuck available. Googling around I found this: Milwaukee M12 4-in-1 Drill Driver Kit

Not only does Milwaukee have what appears to be a CXS with an eccentric chuck, they even went one step further and made it NAINA!

I like that the Milwaukee appears to have the handle closer to the chuck for better control. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about the "knuckle guard" on the CXS. Since I want a small tool like this for working in tight spaces, it seems like it would be an obstruction. On the other hand, the Milwaukee appears to be chunkier.

Has anyone tried both of these tools? Looking at them simply as stand alone compact drill/drivers, how do they compare?

Don't have the CXS but I do have a C12 which also has the knuckle guard as you call it, and a T15 which is a standard shaped T drill. It is definitely more difficult to get the C drill into tight spaces than the T drill.

Festool just released a T model drill to complement the CXS, called the TXS. Might be some time before it's available in America though.

If you don't want to buy into the Centrotec -system , i guess you'll be happy with the Milwaukee.

Consumables like the Centrotec system isn't an issue for me. Festool has adapters that allow the use of standard bits if necessary but all of the ones I would use are available as Centrotec.

Maybe these tools are too new for enough people to have tried them both. I'll definitely keep watch for the TXS when it comes to NA.

If that Milwaukee M12 4-in-1 Drill Driver Kit was AINA I'd already own it! I want one!!!

And yes, I own a Centrotec Installers kit, but I love my M12 tools. It's a tough sell to me that the Festool Drills are worth 3-4x the price of a Milwaukee which has a longer warranty (5 years) should you ever need it.

It's my birthday next week, so somebody send me one of those Milwaukee kit's, Puh-lease?

wow:

I have had a look at them - build is Milwaukee quality for sure. A "hefty" quality feel to them. However on the copy I handled there was a pretty serious wobble with the accessories attached!  [eek]

They sell very well over here and I haven't used one so I can't comment on the wobble other than the fact it was so obvious I noticed it straight away. The Bosch 18V I got with the Festool-type-quick change system seems to run very true.

Well that's not good.

Do you think it's an aberration, or did Milwaukee drop the ball on the design?

Where was the wobble? Was it in all the chucks/adapters or just in the screw bit ones? I was checking out my M18 impact driver and notice that there is a little wobble that I never noticed before in actual use.

I've used Milwaukee cordless since my Farther fist one (7.2v I think) and have had nothing but good luck with them. I've had the opportunity to use some Festool drills too and really like them, but there really hasn't enough of a compelling reason for me to get one considering all the other cordless tools Milwaukee offers. Since this particular one would be a special use tool, I was thinking it could be an opportunity to get the festool.

The Bosch looks good too, but I want a really small machine for tight spots. It looks like this one is the larger 18V.

Hello, the wobble on the unit I tried was with both the drill chuck and with the excenter chuck attached and "secured".
So I assume the unit itself was a bit wobbly. I did not try it with bits straight on the machine.
