Improved Domino - add a light

I use my Domino 500 very often and have found myself nearly just as often wishing for a light  - like those that are used on drill/drivers.
You pull the trigger and the light comes on to show you that you are really on the mark. Some of this is just aging eyesight but a lot of this
is that I have been working with dark and finished woods that I don't want to mark up with dark pencil lines. Seems like an easy fix.

Good idea !

Could even go all the way with alignment lasers [big grin]

Great idea, I use my domino to join dark hardwoods and have a very hard time seeing the markings.

Great idea.

While it wouldn't be as slick as an integrated light, would it not be possible to attach some sort of small LED type of light somewhere on the Domino?  A keychain light perhaps?

Sure - I hold a small LED now but I think the Festool Engineers could easily integrate a light. Of course then I would need to upgrade  and that's too bad  [sad].

How about a sound activated LED that you could stick on.  You turn on the motor and let there be light.  Could be used with any unlighted tool.

I wear one of those headband lights when I need more light than the existing ceiling and task lighting provide.

The lasers like on a miter saw would be really cool in a Domino. I have a simple biscuit jointer, but I can attest to the ease of use this would provide on a machine similar to it.

Or use white pencils?

I haven't found a white pencil that stands up to hardwoods very long.  What kind of white pencil did you find and where did you find them?

I use a metallic silver pencil that I purchase from welding supply stores. I use them with pressure treated lumber, walnut, iron wood deck to mention a few.
Good luck.

Rick,

Thanks I'll try those.
