This might be a little late for some.

But when you get that tax refund, I can think of one way to spend it. That would be green backs for lime green tools.

Nice thought except Ungle Sam said not enough I want more.  The AMT hit me and the wife this year.  Real bummer.

You should be glad when you owe at the deadline, and be kicking yourself if you're entitled to a refund.  The former means you got the benefit of your money and now it's time to pay up.  The later means you've given the government an interest free loan.  At least that's how the mechanics work in Canada, despite the fact that 2/3rd's get refunds with ear to ear grins, it's the "ower's" who should be smiling.

have you seen the new 1040 short form? It has two lines:

How much did you make?

Send it in.

Apparently 57% of amerian taxpayers have zero net federal tax liability. They get 100% or more back.  20% of Americans get 70% of their income in the form of tax credits and other tax system income redistributin mechanics.  Another 20% get 40% of their income in this manner.  Interesting how the tax collection system has become a social entitlement system for 40% of Americans.

Of course the system still isn't "Fair"  [scared]
