Thanks peter another informative video

I need to stop watching them got too many ideas for stuff to make (and buy)
Had a look at the incra fence parts they seem quite reasonably priced I was surprised

I was put onto this by The Woodworkers Workshop - run by Peter Sefton. I too was surprised that the prices were so reasonable...I hope that does not give anyone the idea to up their prices !

I realise that I may be encouraging people to spend money but I also realise that there will be people who cannot afford to buy such lovely kit. I have been there with my nose pressed against the window wishing for something that seems tantalisingly just out of reach. It is all about perspective and keeping your ambitions realistic. I see Richard Branson flying off to his private island in his personal jet and I know that I will never even get a microlight let alone a 747. I made a video about re-roofing my shed and some chap commented that my shed was better than his home - a truly humbling experience. But at the end of the day it is about being happy and making the best with what you have. I think that it important to always want to do better and achieve more and that will help some ambitions to become reality. At the end of the day it is about being happy and content with ones lot.

Peter

I completely agree Peter .I'm generally very happy with my lot .I'm just working my way through getting my workshop to a stage I can just go up there and make something even if it's just for an hour a day without a lot of set up .

And the fog and people like your good self give me more ideas and inspiration

If I actually achieve about half my ideas I will be very happy

How are you getting along so far?

We are looking at building an 18' run of bench/storage to be our "chop" station.

I'm hoping to squeeze a hobby drill press and porter cable pocket cutter into the same unit (each end)

The ideal setup would include our radial arm saw for dados, and the Kapex for all other crosscuts/miters. Im struggling to see all of that fit into 18'. We became accustomed to 10' on either side of the radial.. Moved shops and haven't ever set up a proper chop station since.

Im also struggling with the 30cm offset that you are required due to the Kapex sacrificial fence. Is it possible to remove that? Would that then make the Kapex non-portable? Wont have the Kapex till 1st quarter 2015.

Any opinions are appreciated! Planning to start a shop thread as we are doing some pretty ambitious organizing and re-arranging of our new space!

One thing that you could do without modifying the Kapex is to create a fence in front of the Kapex's own one. This could be kept down to 12 -15 mm in thickness in front of the Kapex and so that is all you would lose in cross cut capacity. The same fence could be thicker once it was past the end of the Kapex fence.

Hi

Once I've finally finished the bench I'm going to build a crosscut bench /mitre station
I've an idea to use it for a pillar drill too .as I think the basics of the bench will be the same and could use the incra fence for both .with the saw and the drill on a movable table on castors which could be swapped

What do you think ?

I think that it could be excellent - do show some sketch plans or a photo of the completed project.

Well it is only an idea at the moment .i could easily get side tracked

But will keep you posted (just don't hold your breath lol)

This was very interesting. Recently I've begun the process of  convincing myself of the need for the Kapex, so when due time when I undoubtably have a real kapex in my shop, the Incra Flip Fence would be something I'll invest in..

Peter,

Thanks for yet another great video.

I am thinking of making an mft fence using the incra telescoping flip stop system.....

Can you reverse the telescoping direction of the fence?

Do you think this is a worth while strategy?

I use to work with a large sliding table saw and loved the telescoping fence that was a part of its design..

Thanks again

Hi Brice,

Yes, the Flip-Fence can be reversed. All you need to do is to undo the two screws that hold the short section to the rail. Then remove the rail from the main fence and put in from the other end. Finally attach the short section to the other end.

If you set it up on the MFT3 then you need to think about a method of fixing and the ability to do minor adjustments for square (to the guide rail). I think that it could be made to work - perhaps a sketch of your idea would help.
