Hi.
I've just finished my new mounting plate for the LS Positioner. Thought I'd share some pictures. Maybe someone gets ideas or inspiration out of it.

I think it would be something along the lines of 'super' or 'ljuvligt' in a funny Svedish accent. [smile]

Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know that I would use it with the MFT on its standard mobile legs...?(even with the adaptor that solidifies the legs a bit more from racking , I wouldn't trust a router on those table legs...even a little shakiness would scare the living tar out of me---maybe I'm alone on this...but I'll be alone with all ten fingers in full!).

I'm going to steal ideas from you to install something similar in my custom table (with really beefy non mobile legs that don't let an ounce of shake into the tabeltop :) )

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MY MFT for certain things...and it would be fine if you took the MFT and put it on some solid legs.

Of course I'm being a total jerk and focusing on safety (from only my perspective)

Don't want to detract from how awesome that is.

Is the black piece made out of wood?

Thanks.
The black thing is wood. It's called Valchromat. Really cool MDF with colored fibers. I'm currently building a drill press table out of the same material with an Incra fence as well.
Valchromat

About safety.. Yes, I agree with you. My next project is a welded steel frame for my two MFTs. They will stand on Zambus casters.

Here is the drill press table in an early state. I have ordered some longer T-Tracks from Incra. Until it arrives I will leave the table in this rough state so I have the edges left for some more routing.

Do you have any plans to attach a guide rail to it?

OT: "Wow" translates nicely into "Wow" in Swedish... We have a long history of incorporating English words in our own language. "Ljuvligt" is something my grandmother would have said.

Do you mean a guide rail on the MFT? I have a second MFT on which I do most sawing. When I need a bigger table I put them together and place a sheet of OSB on top to save the MFT's from kerfs.

Ah, no I mean to attach a guide rail to the Incra router fence, or maybe replace the fence with a rail in some way? Shouldn't it be useful sometimes to have micrometer-level control of a guide rail?

Hi,
I just bought my met and got a good deal on an Incra positioner on Craigslist. I am thinking of a setup like this. Do you find that the holes grab or catch stock as you feed it through the bit?

Thanks- it looks great!

I was thinking of something similar for my mft to cms connection. Love both but the fence gives me fits sometimes.

Has anyone incorporated a positioner with the cms/mft combo?

@gl: Yes, the hole grabs sometimes. Rounding over the top of the holes (ever so slightly) solves this problem. I'd say it works okay, but it is not optimal for precision work. As for precision work - don't count on the MFT top for rigidity. You have to support it from the under side for it to not flex (we are talking tenths of mm). I'm actually building a new router table with a home made lift. The new table will have a frame of Rexroth profiles (similar to 80/20) and an MFT-top without holes.

@bkharman: Have you considered the Incra Track system for your CMS? This will give you great repeatable precision.

Hmm.
I might have misunderstood. I thought you meant CMS as in Compound Miter Saw. I'm building a SCMS station myself. The only missing part is the Incra Track which is in the mail.

But if you mean using a TS55 in the Festool CMS table I think that the LS positioner would be perfect as a fence.

So a few points of clarification...

Was looking for a better fence option for my CMS-VL that attaches to my MFT.  It is just the Router unit right now (may pick up the Saw option when I go to UK in october.)

CMS-VL/MFT. My Incra jig base is held to the MFT to by brass knurled bolts into threaded inserts. Takes me about 2 minutes to swap fences.

By chance do you have a pic or two of this setup?  Very curious...

cheers
