Incra LS positioner super system question

Hi all,

I’ve been looking to upgrade my router table for some time now and finally came across a good deal on a Incra LS positioner super system (17”).

I’m quite new to this system and haven’t even picked it up yet, but as you do I’m trying to learn and educate myself how to properly use it.

First up, I’d like to mount it on my table saw extension table pictured below. It’s currently 900mm long, but I plan to replace it and could potentially go to 1000mm or longer. Now, the instructions say it needs to be mounted 17” from the centre of the router (I’ll also buy the incra insert plate).

Now, this will mean it will get in the way if I need to rip anything that is as wide as where the positioner is mounted. My question is, what methods have you come up with to accurately remove and put back on the LS system?

The FAQ section on the incra site states, “The oval top section of the positioner's base can be removed from the T-slotted sub base. This oval section can then be attached to a piece of good-quality 3/4" plywood and then mounted in a variety of ways. A wooden router table encourages using knobs through the plywood threaded into T-nuts inserted into the underside of the router table.”

Has anyone done this and could post pictures? Or has someone come up with another way. I’d really appreciate the replies.

Cheers

I used a small piece of MFT’s extrusion on the end of my custom mft bench. I can now move the LS from the CMS to the bench just using a kapex crown stop. Just need to shim the extrusion so it’s square to your bench.
