Induction Cooktop Cutout Dimensions

Guys,

I am replacing an island which currently has an old Jenn Air downdraft.  The cabinets are standard 36 inch high including toe kick and countertop.  They measure a depth of 24 3/4 inches.  I plan on replicating these cabinets using theses dimensions.[attachthumb=1]

My problem is this.  The wife wants to put in a Bosch induction cooktop (Bosch NITP066SUC 30Inch)  In reading the cutout dimensions they say a minimum of 2 inches from the back and 2.25 inches from front.  The cooktop cutout is a min. of 19 7/8 to 20 inches.  The amount of space needed at a minimum is 19 7/8 + 2.0 + 2 1/4 or 24 1/8.  The space between the 3/4 inch front and  back panel is 24 minus 1 1/2 inches or 22 1/2.  Is is okay to set this induction cooktop in this space?

Please give me your advice.  I would appreciate any help.

They 2" is the minimum clearance to vertical surface above the counter surface. Per page 6 of the install manual the required clearance between the cabinet walls and the cooktop body is 3/8".

Does the cutout include the locating the downdraft unit behind the induction cooktop.  I'm assuming the vent is a separate unit that will be needed in an island installation.

I am not replacing the downdraft.  I will be putting in something overhead.

Thank-you.  I see that the min. of 2 inches is talking about a vertical wall next to the cooktop.  In my case, there is no vertical wall as I am installing in a island.

Thx,

Jim
