Information about using copier scanning set on 1010

Just curious about the full range of uses for the copier scanning set one can get for the 1010, which attaches to the angle arm and allows the following of curves and profiles (486534).  The only video I've seen on Youtube is the following, where it's just used to create a rabbet on an oddly shaped piece:

Thanks for this the instructions never really gave a good show at how it's used. Now I need to get this.
